Description

Inspired by The Lady and the Unicorn series of tapestries woven in Flanders in the 15th century, five depict the senses: taste, hearing, sight, smell and touch,  whilst the sixth represents love.

This tapestry cushion depicts the sense of smell.  A noble lady is making a wreath of flowers, flanked by a unicorn and a lion.  A monkey has stolen a flower, which he is smelling. The original tapestries are considered one of the greatest works of art of the Middle Ages.  A wonderful statement piece to add to your home.

These traditional tapestries are woven in cotton on mechanical jacquard looms in Flanders, the home of tapestry since medieval times.  The manufacturing process used to produce these tapestries has remained largely unchanged for the last 200 years, ensuring a consistently high quality product.

  • Jacquard woven in Flanders, Belgium
  • Duck feather and down pad filling
  • Neutral beige brushed cotton reverse
  • Strong zip closure
  • Dimensions: 34cm x 34cm (13.5in x 13.5in)
