Description

Medieval shields were used both for defence and attack; to protect the knight against blows and as a weapon to strike and unbalance enemies. Shields were usually decorated with the knight's coat of arms and heraldic symbols that identified him both on the battlefield and in tournaments.

This type of shield is called a kite shield and examples of it can be seen in the Bayeux Tapestry which illustrates the events of the Norman conquest of England around 1066. This shield also features the coat of arms of Richard I, (Richard the Lionheart or Lion Hearted, Richard  Coeur de Lion), which is emblazoned across the Cross of St. George.

This majestic Lionheart Shield and sword mount is the perfect way to display your sword in style. It can either be used to hang a sword vertically, for an eye-catching display, or can be hung without a sword, to add a little medieval splendour to your home.

Crafted from wood and hand-painted with brass embellishments, it features hanging loops on the back and a device for clamping your sword securely in place.

Please note this product will be charged for at point of order and not time of despatch. Please see terms & conditions.
