The design of this tree decoration is based on the Imperial Crown of India that was created for George V to wear at the Delhi Durbar in 1911. The crown is set with emeralds, rubies, sapphires, 6100 diamonds, and one large fine ruby. The weight of the crown led King George to complain after the durbar that his head hurt and surprisingly the crown has never been worn by any British sovereign since. This beautiful Tower of London crown tree decoration is wonderfully detailed and is beautifully handmade using metal and silk threads on a purple velour background with a foam filling. The decoration is finished with glass beads and faux pearls with the words 'Tower of London' sewn into the bottom of the crown. The Tower of London crown Christmas decoration makes a wonderful memento for any visit to the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London.
